This course is designed to connect teachers to free content through the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) that supports the Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Standards found in the Michigan K-12 Standards for English Language Arts. In addition, the content available through MeL gives teachers the resources they need to achieve many of the goals highlighted in the Essential Instructional Practices in Literacy. The ability to connect students to free informational texts through thousands of cited magazine subscriptions, eBooks, and encyclopedia content as well as a wide range of literature options is imperative to their academic success. With persistent links available to these multi-media eResources, teachers can easily organize this content in their digital plan books and learning management systems such as Google Classroom and Schoology.
