The Michigan eLibrary: ELL & World Language Supports K-12 course is designed to connect teachers to free, available digital content in a wide range of available formats for students who need additional supports for reading and interpreting new material. With translation tools in over 60 databases as well as text-to-speech capabilities, the resources in MeL can offer teachers tools to help assist struggling or new language learners in a variety of ways. Additionally, there are simple search commands within the databases that can provide content in a handful of other languages, such as Spanish and French. The ability to connect students to free informational text through thousands of cited magazine subscriptions, eBooks, and encyclopedia content as well as a wide range of literature options is imperative to their academic success. With persistent links available to these multi-media eResources, teachers can easily organize this content in their digital plan books and learning management systems such as Google Classroom and Schoology.
