Foundations of Math is a series of sessions, or courses, focused on mathematical content knowledge. It is appropriate for general and special educators. It will support teachers in examining mathematical procedures from a conceptual standpoint and increasing sense-making for learners who struggle with methods reliant on memorization or procedure. The EduPaths courses include an introduction, a course for each of the components of number sense, one on lesson construction, and a final course covering assessment and data. This Prototype for Lesson Construction module uses the framework to teach a structure for division by a fraction and how to use fraction tiles to add, subtract, multiply, and divide by fractions.
