This course is the first in a series of four modules focused on the Essential Coaching Practices in Elementary Literacy, and is meant to describe a set of research-supported literacy coaching practices to guide literacy coaches in their work with teachers. It will provide an overview of the Essential Coaching Practices and cover Essential 1, examining the specialized literacy knowledge and skills needed by an effective literacy coach.
